Every day, I make countless mistakes. Of those that are repeated, I try to write down a ‘how to’ guide for how to avoid them in the future. I only intended to write these guides for myself, but I’m realizing that I’m not that unique, so I write these lessons publicly in case it can help other fellow Friendly Ambitious Nerds.

Typically, I write these lessons by understanding 3 important components:

1. Résumé

I’ve worked and learned from a variety of different roles and industries within the “business world”. Here’s what my official vs. unofficial resume shows:

My Official Resume:

Education: Graduated with honors from Harvard College

  • Finance: Worked at Credit Suisse (Financial Sponsors Group) and Bain Capital
  • Entrepreneurship: Co-founded a mobile-app based peer-to-peer marketplace for 100k+ users in Brazil
  • Venture Capital: Founding member of a growth equity firm, and led investments into SoFi (NASDAQ: SOFI), Hotel Tonight (Acquired by Airbnb), and Frontier Car Group (Acquired by OLX/Naspers)
  • Consulting: Got promoted to Engagement Manager in ~2 years and worked at McKinsey for ~6 years
  • Big Tech (Meta): Spent 2 years in product strategy and GTM for Instagram / Meta’s GenAI Agent
  • Runway: I lead the enterprise growth and deployment team
My Unofficial Resume:

Education: Tbh, have no idea how I got in…let alone survive for 4 years

  • Finance: Got really good at excel modeling and staying up at night
  • Entrepreneurship: That 100K number is just downloads and starting a business was brutal, especially in a foreign country
  • Venture Capital: Realized that the job of great VCs is a sales job to convince great entrepreneurs to take their money, and to be honest, I didn’t love the idea of begging people to take my money.
  • Consulting: Learned how to learn, lead and communicate. Even though everyone loves to hate consultants, I loved it, though traveling and hours are tough.
  • Big Tech (Meta): Scale of impact was surreal and the people were kind, but realized my personal operating rhythm requires a faster pace to stay fully energized.
  • Runway: I feel lucky to be working alongside the sharpest, most ambitious, and hardworking people to build a future that doesn’t yet exist

Oneday: The First 500 Nights. I spent over 600 nights in hotels while at McKinsey, and collected every single one. Ultimately, I created my first “key-llage” and made it into an NFT.
